Darren, I wouldn't pass up an invitation to visit chez Dunne; they don't get handed out lightly...

I should know, I've never received one.. ;-)

I was referring to the disc's availability here, not the lack of invitation to Sean's!

Sean's understandably very careful about his invitations.. if I turned up on his doorstep, his wife would never let him visit a music forum again.. ;-)

You will be made feel most welcome Mister Butcher and now you have received an invitation.

I'm a big fan of Jordi Savall's work but I definitely agree with you on this set Sean. It is the only work by Savall that disappointed me.

This was the first ever Brandenburg set that I bought and it still remains top of the pile for me.

I know your a fan of the OAE so this one should do it for you.

well, these 'old school' Brandenburgs arrived this morning... I'm really not sure what to expect of them, but the set was an absolute bargain. I generally like Menuhin, and so the way I wish to approach this set, recorded with his pre-HIP Bath Festival Orchestra between 1956-73, is to see how Bach was approached by such a dedicated supporter of his work during these years. I'm not expecting these performances to be 'top drawer' by todays highly informed standards, but I'm sure I'll find them enjoyable and enlightening in equal measue...

Eh they are bottom drawer dust collectors actually. Sorry Jared, I just don't like them, I hope you do.
