A bit like 'In A Silent Way' in mood without the brass/guitar ensemble....

Received Autechre's new gorgeous vinyl artifact from the bowls of Newcastle (Alt Vinyl).. Any Ae fans out there??
The 10th Ae album emerges, softly, from silence. The level of the opening track rises like a tide,a stealthy, almost imperceptible journey from absence to full-frequency,technicolour presence that takes nearly two minutes to complete. This is surely one of the most beautiful pieces in the Ae discography, its vapour trails of feedback describing aching parabolas across troubled skies. The luminous resonance of this track is no false dawn;rather,it heralds a collection of music as nuanced and beguiling as any other disc they have released.(Wire - slightly edited..)

LOL :-) However, remember that Miles himself was of the opinion that it's what you leave out rather than what you put in that counts above everything else; Space is most definitely the place, music or otherwise :-)
Re: What music did you buy/get in the post today?
Went up to Dublin yesterday and got the following vinyl from Road and Tower:
Tower::
1.John Fahey - 'America' on double vinyl (4MWB) for the first time ever and sounds terrific.
2.C Joynes - 'Revenants,Prodigies and the Restless Dead' Never heard of this guy but I'm so glad took a chance with this
one! A bit like Fahey but more folky and whimsical - highly recommended.
3. Miles Davis - 'In A Silent Way' on the Sony Music On Vinyl imprint;exclusively remastered ha ha ha! It's my third copy and
none of them come anywhere near the Bill Laswell mixes for 'Panthalassa'.
4.Roedelius - 'Jardin Au Fou' My third copy! The other two are almost over 30 years old - one original and the other second hand...
Road Records:
1.Yo La Tengo - 'Adventureland' OST
2.Zurich - Ist - Know absolutely nothing about this one except it features a member of Seefeel with Tony Wilson and Neil
Halstead. Very redolent of the 90s ambient scene;think Aphex Twin Ambient Works collection and others....

Re: What music did you buy/get in the post today?
Indeed. Is your copy of America ok? Great album. Borrowed some Robbie Basho and Preston Reed lp`s from a friend. Great stuff. Preston`s actually a good friend of his. Met him a few times. Incredible guitar player.
Re: What music did you buy/get in the post today?
Yeah, my copy is fine but as you know American pressings are not that hot anyway; still I was lucky this time! The only Robbie Basho Lp I have is 'Voice of the Eagle' where he sings!Last time I listened I didn't like his very strange voice and there wasn't enough solo picking going on...must give it another listen tonight. As for Preston Reed I've never heard of him and I will have to check him out, pronto! Thanks for the shout! You'll have to tell us about your meeting with Mr. Reed sometime... Would you believe I actually met John Fahey and asked him to sign an Lp I happened to have with me the night he played a largely forgettable concert in Whelans! He had bermuda shorts on him that night!!!BTW Have you ever heard of Sandy Bull?bod wrote:Indeed. Edit: So this is Preston Reed. Impressive stuff!! He reminds me of Michael Hedges...
