the BBC Music Mag's Building a Library concentrates on Die Winterreise; this recording comes highly recommended..

if you are interested, it is also on next month's free cover CD...
Cheers for that Jared.

A trip around the Ipswich charity store circuit yielded:-

I love Brahms' PCs so these were a wonderful find (and I am not sure why I don't own these recordings already!)

On a related note; I stopped by the WH Smith library to browse through the latest issue of Gramophone (which I won't buy anymore incidentally) and noticed that the overall library recommendation of Mozart's clarinet concerto was:-

...so I searched Amazon and got it really cheaply. I don't think it's possible to have too many recordings of this jewel of a piece so I am very pleased to add it to my collection. Co-incidentally it is Harnoncourt also, I prefer his Mozart to his Brahms recordings usually.

Don't worry Sabine Meyer has been sourced and will be purchased when some funds can be released!

^^ all of that Beethoven haul is awesome Jared. Well done.

I know nothing of Bruch's symphonic output, so please let me know if they are worth a try...

...that Suk recording comes very highly recommended, again, let me know if that's worth a try too...

...and I have a couple of Martinu cycles already and I know that you will find plenty to enjoy in that set. Is it your first experience of Martinu?

Bruch: Many reviewers keep saying his Symphonic output is very underrated and needs to be heard more.

Suk: Yes, that recording was made in the Spanish Hall in Prague Castle in 1991, and is meant to be special. Picked it up for £1.40.

Martinu: Yes, it will be... completely new to me. But hey, I've negotiated Nielsen successfully... how hard can it be? ;-)

Well that happened quicker than I thought! I literally just sold an old Associates CD via Amazon - therefore releasing the funds ;-)
