Re: Tim Thurston on his favourite Bach recordings
I do enjoy Tim Thurston's programme, that link makes for fascinating reading too, thanks for that. I mentioned on a different forum that I am beginning to understand why Fergus makes such a great fuss over the music of JSB, I am a late developer, better late than never. All Bach recommendations are welcome.

Thanks for the link Simon... I'll come back to it when I get a bit of time...

Re: Tim Thurston on his favourite Bach recordings
Thank you for that Simon. I like Thurston's low key presentation style and it was very interesting to read what he has to say. I was very pleased that he mentioned one of my firm beliefs regarding the performance of the music of JS Bach that others seem to miss and that is that it should dance. For me personally that is a key factor to a successful performance.

Re: Tim Thurston on his favourite Bach recordings
From Brahms to Bach is great progress, so you want me to regress? Only joking, nah Mister Williams is not to my taste.Jared wrote:I know... first Brahms chamber music, now Bach... whatever next? Speaking of Baroque music, I don't like Purcell but I adore Rameau.
