I finished off my long, lazy weekend of listening with R Strauss: Disc 3 from this set which includes Ein Heldenleben and Tod und Verklarung....

Am I ever going to get the hang of Shostakovich 15? I've been trying for decades!! This is a recent "Building a Library" winner and I enjoyed parts of it, but at times it just left me behind!

On to a very successful recent purchase:

The complete Beethoven violin sonatas played by Isabelle Faust and Alexander Melnikov. This evening I listened to the `Kreutzer' Sonata with great pleasure.

And finally:

Debussy's Syrinx for solo flute, played by Emmanuel Pahud. Debussy is extraordinary, just so unlike any other composer. I love this!

I, too, love Debussy's music.

This morning I listened to and really enjoyed a performance of Beethoven's First on Lyric's Coffee Concert, the programme was presented by Paul Herriott. So today I have enjoyed a feast of Beethoven Firsts and all are so different.

That's my one and only set of Bach's Cantatas. I bought it a couple of years ago on Ciaran's recommendation, I think that the music is wonderful.
