DCS Verdi Transport

Post by tony »

See link below I know Ciaran has one of these or maybe a newer model? and everybody raves about it. The price on this seems very good given it is £9500. The seller seems established a long time.

The item is quoted as refurbished and comes with a guarantee .. maybe ask seller who processes the guarantee and if they say dcs then contact dcs to confirm .. In fact maybe just contact dcs and ask them if they know anything about the seller.

p.s. I think someone on the old forum [Cieran ?] got refurbished stuff directly ftom dcs so a quick phone call to dcs might be a good idea .

Interesting: good price if it's in good shape. A Verdi is not where I'd start, though: to use the Verdi, you'll need a DAC, which will have far more influence on the sound than the transport. Better to start with a refurbished second-hand dCS DAC and add a transport and clock later. Definitely worth contacting dCS themselves to see what they can offer by way of second-hand units: that's how I got mine!

It looks like a sweet deal, and the ad is saying all the right things. But I would be checking with DCS about the warranty, or even out of warranty repairs etc in case things went wrong down the line. I'd also get the serial number and ask them to check that out as well.

Also, as Ciaran says, you need a DAC as well - so be prepared to drop another few bob there!!

Hope I didnt give the wrong impression there. I just happened to come across it on ebay and thought it very reasonable given the new price. No funds available for that level of purchase and the further necessary purchases. I value my life and cant bear pain so will leave that product to some other braver soul

actually I was in touch with a guy from dCS just over a month ago. He offered refurbished transports, dacs etc from the classic range for much much less money than retail prices. But given how sensitive my hifi is to sources now, I had to ask him could I return the unit(dac) if I wasnt happy with it. But all I got in reply was some sales talk shite along the lines of 'you will not be unhappy with the this dac. It is a reference dac and dCS are leaders in this area, it is the best dac money can buy' blah blah, so I left it at that.
