This is an incredible mostly guitar instrumental album of rare beauty with a fabulous sound.....despite the tongue in cheek title! For God's sake if you see it, snap it up immediately!
Who's on that?
Not anyone you'd know Ivor; (nor me either!) The album is written and performed by a chap called Andreas Söderström. The other musicians on the album play organ/bass (5), water/bass (10) and dough buckets (10)....don't ask! Anyway they are Patrick Thorman and Frederik Ohlsson respectively. It's on the Static Caravan label too...

Here's what Hi Fi World had to say about the album:

'This is a superb piece of acoustic guitar playing that will be of great interest to fans of either John Fahey or Leo Kottke. It's a superbly mic'd recording too, providing some great deep bass sounds from the body of the guitar and offering top notch dynamics throughout.'

Don't let the Fahey comparison put you off as anyone who shows any kind of prowess on the acoustic guitar seems automatically to be labelled a Fahey clone!

I generally dislike guitar music [even though I try to play guitar] so what Fahey album [CD] would you suggest I get if you think that Fahey is worth listening to.
It's OK, if there is no bread I will eat cake.

Released as a short-run private press LP in 1965, Fate Is Only Once has long been a coveted collectible among American Primitive (a Fahey phrase) guitar enthusiasts. The only other recorded work by Taussig surfaced on the out-of-print Takoma LP Contemporary Guitar Spring '67 alongside John Fahey, Robbie Basho, Max Ochs and Bukka White. "Dorian Sonata" was recently featured on the acclaimed acoustic guitar compilation Imaginational Anthem Vol. 1, and now the album is here, with original liner notes and vintage photos.
