cybot,

thanks!

I'll let you know next week the outlets in Dublin - dont want to jump the gun but you're on to it.

The floor stands - well, we'll do adjustable pylons to put the EVP-M1 on top of - a few iss still - we dont want any bolts fastening pylons to EVP-M1 to speaker, so they have to be robust.

The other products have to remain commercial secrets a little while longer but again you're on to it.

all the best

You're welcome... BTW what's your system set-up? We'd love to know :-) Also thanks for answering my questions. So my understanding of the floor stander is the EVP-M1 sits on the floor, the speakers sits on top of them and the pylons support the speakers from behind? I know I'm stating the bleedin' obvious but that's because I don't fully understand your answer!
Also what about a special device for Electrostatics?

Hi Brent,
Thanks for taking the time to join in and answering the queries. Good luck with the venture and I'm sure that there'll be be a fair few of us taking a trip to Blackrock for a listen.

Nice to have you on board Brent - very best of luck with the venture. There's plenty of us around if you ever want to try them out!

Great to see someone having a go - well done.

Hi all,

well thanks for such a warm welcome - really appreciate it.

a few quick replies:

1. Fran, let me know where you are and I will get a product to you late next week. I'm happy for you to share with all your unguarded impressions.

2. cybot, no the EVP-M1 will sit on top of pylons - either at couch height or at meter bridge height. It will take another 4 months because we are a bit picky. It's not right yet - essentially, the pylons will be decoupled from the floor, and from the EVP-M1, which will also be decoupled from the speaker. That means no bolts or fastenings, so stability is a must. If someone knocks the speaker.... that is what we are dealing with, but we are sticking to the explanation in the blog - the speaker should be free to vibrate and do its thing.

3. My rig? hmmm its simple and its complicated, to do with methods of working - some of which are probably sacreligious. I have nothing at home - it all gets locked up at work. I call it a home studio just to distinguish it from a pro studio. For audiophile stuff, I go to my friends and colleagues - I just would never be satisfied at home. This is a whole area that would take too long to go in to, a universe. I have two mirror rigs - a portable (Core2Duo T9900 3.06 with 2 SSD's, x32 Win7) and a big QuietPC in the studio (ASUStek E6850 3G x32 with all the heat sinks, fans and ACPI/HAL power management), with Wiebetech PDD's using Oxford 924 chipsets - it really works. I've toyed with i7 and x64 but some of the plugins won't run yet and I want an easy life. I run PT9, Sound Forge, Sony Vegas HD, CD and DVD Arch, Isotope, Waves Diamond, BFD2, Reason, Record, Sampletank, Stylus RMX, RMAA, ARTA, and design in Visio, CS4, and soon SpaceClaim 3D, with all CAE in Solidworks through an award winning Irish industrial design architect we work with in Milan. He's the best. I cycle speakers and amps in and out at work, so its a moving feast - Focal CMS65, Genelec 8050a, Y NS10-M, JBL Control 1, Fostex PM-1,2, some old plastic boom box GE speakers and others, and have dual paired Earthworks calibration mics and a Norsonic Grade 1 Mic calibrator, plus a host of mics, Rhode NT-1A, AKG C451B, Shure Beta SM58, 57, Unidyne and so on. I really enjoy recording other musos out live or in a sitting room somewhere. I use micro and mbox 2, plus a digi002r with the black lion audio signature mod - the power rail is so perfectly stable and the ADA's are absolutely silent - it's very nice and I'm reluctant to upgrade to 003, EoL come what may. If I do any work at home, it will be with the laptop, micro and a set of headphones. This is because some of the early edit/mix stuff is just hard work, placing things thereabouts, and my ears get tired unless I can have low volume in enclosed headphones with no ambient distractions. I also have a family and other responsibilities - rugby coaching juniors etc - so home is home. Then about mid-mix is when I want to hear the sound stage and that's the most enjoyable part, turning the rig on at work. We will get Maxim Liadov (creator of RMAA software) to complete independent tests of the EVP-M1 in Moscow and possibly a doctoral student at Sydney University as well. That and ARTA (created by Professor Ivo Mateljin, University of Split, Croatia) are very clever pieces of software, but again, the subjective assessment of sound quality is a whole other area I am planning to write a blog on one day this year maybe.

Thanks again - hope this is what you were looking for.

Brent,

Wow! Thanks for taking the time to clarify and explain everything and so sorry for putting you to all that bother. You are certainly a busy man and from here on in it's going to get even more hectic!! If you get this right this could be a very revolutionary product and especially if it can be used for other items like source and amplifying components....

Finally I'm sure you're aware the Cloney Audio are putting on a Hi-Fi show sometime in early November. An ideal opportunity to demonstrate and explain your product, eh ?
