Yes, that is a lovely recording Jared; it has been lingering in my attic with a few other LPs for quite some time....there is a thread around here somewhere about my relatively recent archaeological escapades and my return to the world of vinyl after many years.Jared wrote:I bet that's a lovely recording... you know, the other albums in the queue hate it when you do that... they can hold a grudge against the album concerned, for many years... ;-))
Re: What are you listening to?
Spooky... so that's why you find scratches on LPs that you know weren't there before, or the CD falls on the floor when you open the case because of a shattered rosette in a heretofore pristine box! I suspect the string quartet records: they're so touchy when they get passed over for something showy like a big baroque choral work!Jared wrote:fergus wrote:This one jumped the listening queue....

Re: What are you listening to?
^^ I've started delving into my Beethoven Piano Sonatas by Brendel today, on the way to a meeting in Cambridge... thoroughly enjoyable...
Re: What are you listening to?
Beethoven – String Quartets Op. 18 1-6....
The music making is much more intense and focused than the Alban Berg Quartet; it is simply in another league! There is also great “presence” on the recordings. Op. 18 No. 4 really stood out for me.
