This is a great set, the performance of the Second Symphony is hugely enjoyable.

If you like piano concertos, then this is definitely one for you.

^^ not heard the Karajan Missa, although I have a real soft spot for the Klemperer... generally though, I prefer HIP in these pieces..

So do I jared but I had read good things about the von Karajan version over the years. It is a powerful rendition and much more devotional and less dramatic than I was expecting!

There has been some talk here lately of JS Bach's Motets so I listened to this on vinyl; JS Bach Motets BWV 225, 227 & 229....





There is nothing particularly remarkable about the performances on this recording other than the fact that the choir sing unaccompanied by either an organ or any other instrumentation. It is an interesting take on JSB’s music. BWV229 was quite attractive.

From an Amazon market place seller....it took me over one year to find one at a good price; I eventually paid £40 fo it used in pristine condition and I have seen it for sale for up to £125!!

Mozart – Violin Concertos 4 & 5....



I think that these were fine performances in themselves but neither are truly Mozartians imho. For true Mozart playing the touch needs to be delicate and a certain phrasing is required along with certain lilt required in the playing. An enjoyable set nonetheless.
