Sky + or Sky HD

Post by Rocker »

Anyone know how to record, on the Sky HD box, a programme showing on the OTHER PROGRAMS section. These programmes do not appear on the Electronic Programme Guide, for example all the ITV channels, BBC1 HD and so on, so one cannot simply program the system to record at a specific time or in real time. The record button does not work in that group of channels.

I have contacted Sky about this and have been given the run around. We actually get round this problem by recording (in real time) on to a combined DVD and HD recorder but it would be a lot easier if I could use the Sky box itself.

Thanks,

Tom.

I'm surprised you've got the run-around from Sky, Rocker, cos there's a simple answer:

It can't be done.

True it can't be done as the Sky box is supplied. But I was wondering if there was a workaround that overcame this difficulty. Similar to how some Region 2 DVD players can be 'made' multi-region.

BTW the run-around from Sky was that they said that ITV do not allow them to transmit any ITV channel to the Republic of Ireland and that they did not 'understand' my query about recording from the OTHER CHANNELS section of their menu. You simply could not make it up!

Yeah, I looked into it myself a few months ago, and there used to be a way involving taking the card out at a crucial moment. Last I heard that workaround no longer worked.
