Where to get good wine by the glass in Dublin?

Post by DancingPriest »

I'm visiting a buddy up in the big schmoke this weekend and fancy a few nice glasses.
Where does an oenophile go for a night on the tiles?

two quick choices spring to mind:

-the wine bar accross from fallon and byrne on exchequer street (D2)
-Ely Wine Bar on 22 Ely Place, near the corner of Baggot street (D2)

Definitely the two recommended by BR (that first place is called Olesya's, and actually F&B isn't a bad idea either -- downstairs). The French Paradox is also worth a look, but I'd probably choose Ely and nibble on a cold charger plate while you're at it.

Is it Saturday evening you'll be around? If so, expect Ely and French Paradox to be pretty busy post-match.

I agree Fallon & byrne is very good downstairs and very spacious/central. French Paradox will be packed after de match but I think it is excellent.Food very good there as well.

Thanks for the help!
Went to Ely in the end. Had a very nice Barbera and steak.
Wish I went for the carpaccio as well, wish I had the balls to make it myself...
