Well done, Ken. DRC on it's own is worth the entry price.

Yes, Fran, much nicer UI & the response is much faster but somebody reported that it is not bit-perfect i.e they couldn't get HDCD to light on their receiver when sending it a HDCD file.

Just to reiterate:

Fidelizer can be downloaded here: http://www.windowsxlive.net/downloading-fidelizer

The latest version of pureplayer: http://www.purediy.gr/downloads/pureplayer.zip

Thread about pureplayer on DIYaudio.com (good to read) http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pc-based ... layer.html

All free. Anyone using a PC as source, say for a headphone amp, or DAC or music source should at least give this a try....

There's one little problem with that player - it doesn't decode lossless wma files - at least yet. If you follow the thread on diyaudio though, you will see I told him about it and he's going off to investigate.

This won't affect many people however - I just have some legacy wma lossless files that I don't feel inclined to spend time converting from one format to another.

I see a few comments from people saying that they couldn't distinguish between it and foobar. I definitely did with the earlier versions, so I must go back now and repeat the experiment with the new version.

I actually like how it works though - its simpler than nearly all the other players out there. I suppose lots of people like having album art.....

Another release with selectable Wasapi output (Vista/Win 7) - it sounds better to me - more micro reolution!
