Forum rules
Note that Tir Na HiFi does not take any responsibility for transactions arranged or carried out here. It is up to the seller and buyer to check each other out! Please be sensible folks, and if there is something you think is wrong, let a mod know, OK?

To make it as clear as we can, here are some simple guidelines:

a) like any forum, the success of tirnahifi is entirely dependent on discussion. All members are encouraged to participate in discussion of music, hifi, etc.
b) tirnahifi is not designed to be, nor intended to be, a marketplace. Any member who uses the site merely for selling will be looked on suspiciously.
c) those members who choose to sell on the site should be aware that the mods do keep an eye on the stuff for sale, plus the demeanour of the seller. Sometimes we may lock/delete/ban a sales thread on this basis.
d) honesty is paramount in all selling transactions. Commercial sellers who label themselves as such are accepted at the discretion of the moderating team.
e) All ads have to include information about age, price, provenance, etc.
f) THE MODERATING TEAM RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANY ADS AT THEIR DISCRETION.
g) Commercial sellers should approach any of the moderation team in advance of posting. First time commercial posts without moderator contact will be removed.

Dowser wrote:Hi Ivor - I'm not surprised. As mentioned, it is a relatively cheap design - and your budget means you can do (much!) better. I'd be interested to see your thoughts on all the different models you try - if you like I can also lend you my Croft Micro II to try (but again a full pre-amp) - but then I'd need the Yaqin back or I'd be without tunes!
It's very impressive for the price and I suspect if I swapped around a few tubes I could get a sound more suited to my own ears but... as I say I'm looking for final vinyl solution here. I could drop it back to you on Wednesday evening if that's ok? Tonight is a busy one.
Thanks for the offer of the Croft but it might just "muddy the waters" (it's Muddy Waters birthday today too!) so not now.

Thanks Ivor - understood. I am not around Wednesday. Is Thursday OK for you?

Gerry - where are you, and when do you want to collect it for a try?

Yep, not sure what times I'm around though. What suits you?

Hey Richard.
I really thought that I'd responded earlier. Obviously not. Guess I didn't push the button.
My situation is this: I am a bit incapacitated just now and it's difficult for me to get about.
Also, changing records is a nightmare.
The Sonos app and CD remote are in overdrive recently.
So please proceed with your offer from FPM [BTW - what is that ?] and forgive me if I've let this get messy.
If that doesn't work out I hope to be on the road again next week and would collect it at a suitable evening for you.
But that depends on Doc's orders.
Kind Regards,
Gerry

Hi Gerry,

Where abouts are you located? I could always pop it around for you to have a quick listen to - if you are close and we can sort a convenient time?

PFM is Pink Fisk Media, a UK online record store and audio forum.
