Note that Tir Na HiFi does not take any responsibility for transactions arranged or carried out here. It is up to the seller and buyer to check each other out! Please be sensible folks, and if there is something you think is wrong, let a mod know, OK?
To make it as clear as we can, here are some simple guidelines:
a) like any forum, the success of tirnahifi is entirely dependent on discussion. All members are encouraged to participate in discussion of music, hifi, etc.
b) tirnahifi is not designed to be, nor intended to be, a marketplace. Any member who uses the site merely for selling will be looked on suspiciously.
c) those members who choose to sell on the site should be aware that the mods do keep an eye on the stuff for sale, plus the demeanour of the seller. Sometimes we may lock/delete/ban a sales thread on this basis.
d) honesty is paramount in all selling transactions. Commercial sellers who label themselves as such are accepted at the discretion of the moderating team.
e) All ads have to include information about age, price, provenance, etc.
f) THE MODERATING TEAM RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANY ADS AT THEIR DISCRETION.
g) Commercial sellers should approach any of the moderation team in advance of posting. First time commercial posts without moderator contact will be removed.
This convinced me away from Naim phono cards with a dedicated linear PSU - it was not as dynamic as the Naim cards, but just simply sounded better. I then fitted some RCA clear top 12AU7 valves (£25 value) to replace the Chinese stock items and was in heaven. Until I bought a Croft Micro II, which redefined SQ and will stay with me until I die.
Lots of info on the MS-12B available on the net - if I kept it I would of hacked it to be a phono stage only, as it is it is 1 line input plus RIAA MM phono stage (I used it with a high output MC {DL110}, all good).
£100 with the RCA clear tops, £80 with stock Chines AU7's.
Cheers - I actually got the Yaqin from someone on here, I swapped it for some decent speaker cables. But had been searching for a Glenn pre-amp for years before that...was very happy when I finally got one. Like I said, I don't imagine ever changing my pre again (Glenn's phono stage is sublime!).
Hey Lads.
Richard can I have a look at that if it doesn't suit Ivor ?
I'm wanting to replace a lowly Project phono box.
Apart from the mediocre sound quality of the Project, there's a serious
hum. Rega tone arm-project phone-SET amp = nasty hum that I can't resolve.
Maybe the Yaqin would be better ?

I was going to let Richard know that I'll be trying the Einstein in Kronosav next week some time as well and that could be a very serious contender. Another price bracket too but if it's as good as 'they' say I might bite.
Of course if I do go for the Yaqin there will be a Tom Evans UGroove for sale!
