Cybot,

I got this on foot of your recommendation. It is really excellent. How much more great music is to be found. I would never have thought of Japanese rock bands before. Good Call.
Wow that's fantastic Mick ! I'm so glad you like it. As you already know Julian voted it top of his Japrocksampler list along with Speed,Glue and Shinki (!!?). I'm not familiar with the latter group but I checked out number three on the list (Les Rallizes Denudes - Heavier Than A Death In The Family) and it's the polar opposite to the tight Rock structures of the Flower Travellin' Band - see earlier post. The only description I could come up with would be, take a pinch of the Velvet's Sister Ray mixed in with Jimi's feedback squall and throw in the craziest drugged out heavily reverbed vocal you can imagine and you're half way there! Crazy music, crazy guys and I'm loving' it :-)

It's a while since I listened to 'ol Steve. Hard to believe I've been listening to him since '81! Equally hard to believe that Manfred Eicher gave him his chance after being rejected by so many others. When you think of the ECM house sound you definitely wouldn't think Steve Tibbetts. One listen to the two albums below would certainly convince you of that :-)

I still have my well worn copy of that from 1979. For some reason I stuck it on recently and it still sounds bloody good (bar the scratches, clicks, beer rings and other best unidentified markings).
