This recording disappointed me when I first got it so I parked it on the shelf and havent gone back to it until this weekend. I havent changed my opinion either. The harpsichord just sounds too weak in the background and at times the small orchestra still overpowers it. Nowhere near as good as the Hogwood/AAM version.
This is it but with a different sleeve...sorry for the size.

you seem well impressed with that Bernstein set Fergus. As I've said many times before, its my favorite Mahler set.

What a wonderful disc this is. I love the vocals and the instrumental textures. This is also my first work directed by Emmanuelle Haim and I was suitably impressed.
