Re: Brexit

@ Naimaste, The country is governed by donkeys & spin merchants. They can’t even sort out a health system which has been struggling for decades. There’s been report after report written up highlighting the fact that Moffat is a point of vulnerability. Jack s*** has been done about it for yonks. ...

Re: Brexit

Brexit has only started. It’s in its infancy at the moment. Big power games (political, international arm wrestling type) will continue for many more years between U.K. and E.U. Recently I read a article stating it’s no coincidence that in five years time the fish quota will be up for renegotiation....

Re: Hifi plans for 2021?

2021 Upgrade plans... nothing planned at the moment... but 2020 did have a bit of a journey.....with a rather interesting discovery too. I've been moving up, down & sideways over the last few years. But in 2020 I tried a Audiolab 8000 pre amp (with class A gain stage) partnered with a Primary A3...

Re: A turntable, finally?

Well done on getting / having the digital force gauge. TBH, might be worthwhile taking those LP's with the sibilance issue to another member who has a good set up and having a go on their TT / amps / speakers etc Perhaps prior to doing so... make a written note of the Album / track / time that the s...

Re: A turntable, finally?

Not sure if you have one of these Simon, but they are dirt cheap and indispensable for cartridge set up. You can spend anywhere between 10e up to almost 100e, take your pick. Most cartridge manufacturers specify a small range in weight, i.e. 2 to 2.5g, you may find 2.4g is better than 2.5g. The only...

Re: A turntable, finally?

Very interesting journey there Simon! Glad to hear that the issue is not with the TT. I had a look on the www and attempted to find some info WRT "Graceland" recording quality etc. Needless to say I did not find any, the album is hailed as one of the greatest of all time etc, so even if th...

Re: Building some speakers

Great work Fran, thanks for sharing the pics.

I wonder would it be possible for somebody to loan you a pair of AP Kontrast speakers so that your new speakers could be tuned to the sound which you are seeking?
