Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC

i thought you ran for your life from this stuff :) I did.. :-) I took the coward route (awaiting my Teradak 275 ATX). But that does not solve the getting the OS drive and USB card seperate rails thing. So that is what I'll be doing. OS drive (SSD) will be on a plain USB battery pack, still don't kn...

Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC

Guys, I am preparing myself for attempting to implement some of the madness I read on this board & this trhead in my own CAS build. Oh my... Step one is the parts-list. I cannot seem to find the wire (3.3V / 5V / 12V) you guys use for your stuff. I recall Nige putting it up someplace (brand, /sh...

Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC

firstly the batteries shouldnt be discharged further than 2.5v each as 2.5v is sort of a minimum recommendation that said it has happened me in experiments ive seen 3 amps draw but in the finished system the batteries will only draw from the ps what the pc components are drawing from the batteries ...

Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC

Ok. Thanks for the link. Will check that out! Other question: how do you limit the charge current in your multi battery setup. Seems you put those Chineese Voltage regs from e-bay straight on the batteries? Is there an auto current limiter in those pre-fab regulator boards? Have you ever switched th...

Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC

Msi h81m g43 It's a bit late, but cannot seem to find that type MSI board.. (typo?). Any clue as to why that board sounds better, or just plain experience / testing? Though a lot of other stuff needs to be right before you'll hear difference between low featured itx and matx Coming from you that gi...

Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC

as far as ive seen minamalist (cheaper) matx boards sound the best, but not massive differences Guys, I need to decide just that: what mobo to go for. I was biased towards the same board as Nige uses (Asus H81i-plus) for simplicty, low features / power etc. So, the above statement throws me off a b...

Re: AUDIO PC: Direct power to motherboad 24 and 4pin (picole

For those interested... There is a 'group-buy' thread started on CA (JPlay & head-fi are also 'targeted' I think). http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f10-music-servers/group-buy-full-atx-linear-power-supply-unit-teradak-21810/ I'm in for a single box. See how it goes. I managed to get an addition...

Re: AUDIO PC: Direct power to motherboad 24 and 4pin (picole

Agreed.... I don't fear a bit of DIY. Available time is a concern. I have moved last year and am still working on my dedicated listening space (&my gear is boxed :-( ).... Floors, walls & ceiling are done.. I only recently have my diffs... Working on dedicated power, LAN.. I might be running...

Re: AUDIO PC: Direct power to motherboad 24 and 4pin (picole

For the looks of it (table) these TeraDak ATX PSU’s have a -12V rail (with little / no amps) and a 5VSB stand-by... Together with the usual suspects (12, 5, 3.3) that accounts for ATX compliant mobo power I presume (I read the -5V pin20 was abandoned in recent ATX spec). What remains is a separate 1...

Re: AUDIO PC: Direct power to motherboad 24 and 4pin (picole

40w would suffice for underclocked haswell has anyone benchmarked these against other options sq wise? Looking at the timestamp of the pictures this is brand new stuff. Wonder how many folks actually use it... Are the reg boards & components used the same as the BIG TeraDak ATX? (can you tell o...
