Re: MQN

Gordon's referring to the preference of some users for wtfplay to MQn sound quality-wise. As someone who can't seem to get wtfplay to work due to my mobo's UEFI BIOS and a seeming inability to get it to play nice with compatability mode, MQn is still easily my favorite player. And even if I could ge...

Re: wtfplay project - it's official

Unfortunately, some of us over at Computer Audiophile have discovered that Paul Pang's (who makes both the PPA cable, obviously, AND the JCAT) SATA cables are often the culprit for a host of boot and Windows stability issues. Specifically, when pressed, Paul will tell people with faulty SATA cables ...

Re: USB Regen from Uptone Audio

There are more than a few reviews that compare the two, and yes my understanding is they are pretty similar - here's some examples: http://www.audiostream.com/content/wyred-4-sound-recovery-usb-reclocker#4QQiE15Imf7LUhFd.97 http://www.digitalaudioreview.net/2016/03/fighting-fit-usb-audio-from-wyred4...

Re: MQN

Control 122, Loader 111, and Play 272 sounding really great together, Gordon. Thank you.

Re: wtfplay project - it's official

No problem, thanks for the consideration. UEFI is absolutely baffling for me coming from a non-UEFI "regular" BIOS board prior to this one. Insanely inflexible, and seemingly all for the sake of a better GUI. I rather don't blame any developer who isn't exactly leaping to support it in tha...

Re: wtfplay project - it's official

I can't seem to find any information here or on DIYAudio about this, so: has anyone gotten WTFPlay to boot on a board with UEFI BIOS only? My USB stick won't show up on the my boot order menu. There is no Legacy BIOS option on my board, only a CSM (Compatibility Support Module), and enabling that do...

Re: MQN

It looks to me like the person who created the Head-Fi thread on the F1 has since moved on to one of the (rather expensive) Icron USB->LAN->USB extenders, and he's claiming big jumps in SQ. Icron is, apparently, also the company behind the upcoming PSAudio LANRover, although PSAudio says that they'v...

Re: MQN

Haven't had much time to mess around with svchost's registry keys/values, but on a whim tonight I applied the "sc own"/Type = 0x10 tweak to the "Power" service, which did seem to bring an improvement, I think. A little more speed to the sound/image solidity. Probably most effecti...

Re: MQN

came across a tweak which I think makes a quite an amazing difference, can hear much further into the music. tried it on win 10 and it involves giving the windows audio service it's own process instead of sharing it. You get the service name from the services tab in task manager under Name, on mine...
