Re: OS for playback software on (Windows 7 or Windows 8)
...haven't posted the latest version, but have been passing them to someone ... and he appreciates the improvements, have been optimising memcpy which has made a big difference, can't believe I am comparing the sonic differences between assembly instructions. Lifted this from Head.Fi, I used to pro...

Re: OS for playback software on (Windows 7 or Windows 8)
I'll be offline for a week or so, so I'll leave experimenting aside, Don't want to be getting my head all stirred up when I can't get to the computer. Without having seen MQN, it does sound hair shirt, that is the interface, or lack of one. People go for iTunes, leaving aside the commercial aspect, ...

Like Hifi is anything other than geeky?
Oh, I get it, like there's standard Geekiness, which we don't notice anymore. Then there's Ultrageeky ?

Re: OS for playback software on (Windows 7 or Windows 8)
I don't know what ripping software you use on the Mac (not iTunes, I hope) but I know EAC does a decent job & would suggest using this. I use XLD, it references accurate rip, but doesn't return a "good" copy if there's a mismatch. That's when I use the crapbook with EAC. What you will...

Re: OS for playback software on (Windows 7 or Windows 8)
Peter, I recommend leaving server 2012 for a later time when you have proven to yourself that putting in the effort will reap more rewards. How you know I play (hack) golf ? I missed 4 from < 1m monday, got up my nose. Ok, got it on server 2012, leave that aside for now. The NUC is audio only, I us...

Re: OS for playback software on (Windows 7 or Windows 8)
Tony is correct but I wouldn't go for the 2 PC set-up initially - there are too many variables & it can be offputting. Go with one PC & try MQN playback software - I highly recommend this approach. Email me, Peter if you want the files for MQN - it's not a trial version as it's not commerci...

Re: Pre-launch of new range of Ciúnas Dacs & USB transports
Remember, the thread "Build an Audio PC" is pushing the envelope, somewhat & there are findings of importance for sound found there: - first was eliminating the spinning fan & going to passive cooling - next, I think were the Power Supply factors - we went from linear to battery p...

Re: Pre-launch of new range of Ciúnas Dacs & USB transports
Hi, Posting for the first time here, hope that it's not the last. I was lured here as a result of sumething of a pie fight on pfm. .... Peter Hi Peter & welcome Is that not what PFM stands for "Pie Fight Methods"? I always thought so as it is a regular occurrence there & many ther...
