Re: The amp that didn't explode! Yet!
I see you are spreading the word, Nige - your post about this amp on DIYAudio is bound to get lots of attention http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pc-based/302687-es9018k2m-es9028q2m-9038q2m-dsd-i2s-dac-hats-raspberry-pi-post5460551.html I think it Got pretty much ignored as a power solution there Diya...

Re: SD player UI development
I2s clocked at sample rate frequencies from good oscillator Yea, that's what I'm saying is needed but the clock needs to be synchronous i.e. used by ESP32 for I2S as well as the same clock used by external reclocker. In other words mclk needs to be an input to ESP32 & that's not an option, as f...

Re: SD player UI development
So you mean the I2S ports have no way to run in 'slave' mode? That being sync'd to an externally driven clock input. In master-mode it generates MCLK using PLL from system clock. Yes, it can be operated in slave mode & documentation says this about transmitting in slave-mode "When I2S is c...

Re: SD player UI development
I've researched the documentation of ESP32 & there is no possibility to provide an external I2S clocks (they are all derived by an internal PLL from the system clock) which rules out synchronous reclocking using an external oscillator - this is an absolute requirement for best sound, as far as I...

There are 3.8V supercapacitors in existence - Lithium Ion capacitors but they are no longer available outside Japan, I believe? https://www.mouser.ie/new/Taiyo-Yuden/taiyo-yuden-lithium-ion-capacitors/ They are half-way between batteries & capacitors - quick charging but like batteries require ...

Re: Soekris Dam Dac
Hey John Yeah, they definitely have their drawbacks, just wanted to bring this up for attention. Maybe for two for 5 volts. I don't like running two lifepo4s at 2.5v each to get 5v. They don't have much capacity left at 2.5v. And then its cost of two caps vs two batteries, so not as much difference...
