DUBLIN VINYL going out of business ...
A friend sent me a link from the Irish Independent newspaper a few days ago concerning the appointment of Liquidators to Dublin Vinyl which presses vinyl records here in Ireland. Here is a link to an article from the rte.ie website, https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2024/0304/1435931-provisional-liqu...

Re: Time to say...... Goodbye?
I am sad to the see the demise of this forum and yet I fully understand and appreciate the reasons why. I checked in here weekly and I was aghast at the lack of activity, i.e. posts, over a long period of years. High performance or specialist audio in Ireland is the outlier of outlier hobby interest...

Re: Orders from usa
In my past experience with FedEx, the bill for the Customs charges came after the event, that is to say after the delivery, out of the blue. Its a bizarre system they have or at least had whenever they were the carrier for items I ordered from the U.S.A.

Re: Orders from usa
Well, everything is barcoded now so it's unlikely to 'slip through' the system. I get records from Japan fairly often and since Ebay (in my case) takes the VAT at the point of purchase and remits it to the Irish Revenue, it works very well. I presume that Discogs work similarly? Dealing with individ...

Re: Orders from usa
You got lucky! I can't imagine how the Customs Authorities let this one through? You should have paid 23% VAT on the Euro equivalent of USD $138. Were the items correctly declared at full value on the specific type of Declaration that is now required by the European Union? For anybody who is reading...

Re: MUNICH HIGHEND SHOW 2023
It might be worth knowing too, if you plan to stay longer than the 4 days on which the show is on, that you can get an ISARCARD at the Airport for a week for something like €18 to €20 covering ZONE M. This will allow you to travel all around Munich and its environs by U-Bahn and S-Bahn trains as wel...

Re: HIGH END MUNICH 2022
We don't know what prompted MF to depart Stereophile. It could be an issue of 'internal politics', but it is bad news in any event for the publication. If I recall correctly, Stereophile's distribution figures are about double those of TAS. I've only ever bought TAS off the news stand when visiting ...

Re: HIGH END MUNICH 2022
The first instalment of Michael Fremer's video coverage of High End 2022 is now up for viewing on www.analogplanet.com. There is nearly 2 hours worth of coverage in this one. It appears he will leave Stereophile to rejoin The Absolute Sound next month. This has not been officially announced yet but ...
