Re: Question about my phono stage
Hi Frankie, The Denon (or any other low output mc cartridge) will work if you use a step up transformer. You simply insert it between your turntable and amp. I have a Rothwell MCL for sale... see below. Your welcome to try it if you wish. Hope this helps. Terry http://www.musicosis.co.uk/?p=2471 htt...

TDL Studio 1 transmission line speakers
Hi all, This a heads up for anyone in the market for interesting floor standers. I traded in a pair of TDL Studio 1s at Cloney Audio just before Christmas. They are in lovely condition and are the original TDL (formerly IMF) transmission line, 2 way floor standers. A great buy for anyone looking for...

Re: Ceol Speakers
Hi John, The place beside the Gresham was Peats and I remember another up off Cathal Brugha Street. Can't think of the name but I bought a pair of TDL Studio 1s off him. In fact, I traded them in at Cloney Audio just before Christmas. They are in lovely condition and are the original TDL (formerly I...

Re: Ceol Speakers
That's right Ivor - Lasky's was on the corner of Swanville Place and Rathmines Road (and on Sth Anne Street). Frank Murray and Tony Boushel left to form Audio Tek. It was Tony who set up Ceol products and manufactured the speakers mentioned earlier. I had a pair of the larger models driven with a Na...

Re: Ceol Speakers
Rathmines was quite the hub for hifi back then. In fact, Laskys boss, Paddy Kelleghan, had another place on Wynnefield Road. It catered for anything above and beyond the much loved Dual 505/NAD 3020/AR 18 combo. Now we have Peats!

Ceol Speakers
Hi all, It's great to see John Kenny designing and manufacturing quality hifi products here in Ireland. Does anybody remember Ceol speakers? They were designed and made in Dublin back in the 80's. There were two models... a two-way stand mounter with a timber cabinet and a three-part foam grill. I t...

Re: Croft Iosis Power Amp
Hi all and thanks for the kind words. Glenn was definitely wearing his glasses when he signed off on the styling of the Iosis. Tony... have a look at the following... http://www.southampton.ac.uk/~apm3/diyaudio/Croft5.html. It's written by a very pleasant chap, Alex Megann at Southampton University....

Re: Croft Iosis Power Amp
Hi fellas and thanks for your interest and info. I just heard back from Glenn as follows... Hi Terry, it looks like an upmarket version of the Series 5 with a valve regulated ht supply and C-core output transformers. The valves will have what they are written on them - the output valves are EL84 and...

Croft Iosis Power Amp
Hi all, I bought a Croft power amp from Noel Cloney back late last century. It was a demo model and was supplied without original packaging or manual. I bought it for it's sweet sound and am still delighted with it today. I'd like to know more about the amp and got in touch with Glenn Croft directly...

Re: What to look for in a LP12?
Hi Claus, I bought my first Linn in 1979 - with the classic Grace G707/Supex SD900. I sold the lot to pay my college fees and remained 'Linnless' for the following thirty years. Last year I found a lovely 'afro' LP12/Ittok combo (built 1986 judging by the serial number). It hasn't been 'upgraded' as...
