block - I know what you mean, I was in exactly the same boat. If you're up in the Belfast area, you'd be very welcome to pop in and have a listen.

Re: Devialet 170
Personally, I don't believe all the hype with Devialet - I'm sure there are other great amps and DACs out there, not least the AR and Lampizator. I did consider the latter briefly, but I decided that I wanted to get rid of multiple boxes, power cables and interconnects, and still have decent sound. ...

Devialet 170
Hi - I've just been speaking to Ivan @ Cloney Audio and I understand that he has sold a few other Devialets over the last few months. Purpose of this topic is to share experiences - I've had my 170 since the middle of November. What I would say is that, in my experience, this component takes a consi...

Hi Fran - good thought. I'd forgotten about this, will give it a try. There just seem so many permutations with Devialet ....

Re: Multiple FLAC files to MP3 - how to do this?
If xrecode scares the s**t out of you (as it did me, when I clicked on Fran's link!), check out www.mediamonkey.com. It allows you to convert FLAC to any quality of MP3 that you desire - and to put the converted MP3 in any location that you wish. Can't remember if this functionality requires the Gol...

Re: Devialet 170
It's not strictly necessary to have a PC at all in the mix. Any digital source output - USB, SP/DIF, AES/BSU - will work absolutely fine. However, I'm like most of you - I have all my music on a NAS and really don't want to copy this all to a PC and connect the PC to the Devialet. First experiment w...

Re: Devialet 170
I will use a SBT via coax digital output of the SBT into the digital input of the D170. I've already demoed this at home and it sounded wonderful. Any streamer that you fancy - as long as it has a digital output - can be connected to the D170. Longer term, I'll investigate AIR and, given the recent ...

Re: Devialet 170
Congratulation Ken. Welcome back to the fray Dave. I really liked the 170 when we ran it into the EIST Dubhs. Very tempting indeed. Maybe down the road. I hope you both have hours and hours of pleasure with your kit. Gerry Thanks Gerry - if you're ever up around Belfast and fancy a listen, give me ...

Re: Devialet 170
Thanks lads. I've been mulling over this for ages. Now, I won't know what to do with my time.... Bought the 170 because of the additional features and the fact that the Akurate 242s aren't an easy load. If I was starting from scratch, I'd look at the 110 and get easier to drive speakers. I also thin...
