Re: My devices on Tour
This was a big surprise to me as I had never heard digital sound that was similar to that of vinyl. I think that this usb dac should be considered in the same way as a phono preamp. I'm happy you have what you have. I know many that even some 5-7 years ago ditched vinyl since digital was to the poi...

Re: Mark 2 HiFace USB-SPDIF mods by jkeny
Yes, and don't forget that the shiga is only a transport - you still need to add on a DAC!! The way to go here is to buy a JKDAC32 or JKDAC, provided you are happy enough to use a laptop, do the rips, and playback in that way. Some people like the ritual of choosing and putting on a CD etc. Some pe...

Re: JKSPDIF MK 111 on Six Moons
It already has the MK3 built into it :) That's not fair:)) If I have an MK3, and I wanted to build my MK3 into my DAC, how would I do this?:) Hold on there, cowboy! Do you have a MK3? Your questions don't make any sense to me!!! I do have the MK3 and simply curious if there's some way to basically ...

Re: Mark 2 HiFace USB-SPDIF mods by jkeny
That's incredible Fran. Even if you account for just the primary parts from when it was available, and add in all the mods, the regulator/s?, transformer/s, power supply, proper balancing of the transport mechanism, etc. etc. I would think you are spending close to or maybe even more? than what eith...

Re: Mark 2 HiFace USB-SPDIF mods by jkeny
Fran, I noticed you compared the Shigaclone to the MKII and found them to be equally good, or at least I think this is what you felt about the two. Is your Shigaclone about as well equipped parts wise/mods wise that it would be considered to be about as good as one could make the Shigaclone sound, a...

Re: New JKDAC32 USB DAC
Just asking the question to see how people like it going direct to the amps vs. use of a preamp. I've always preferred a preamp regardless unless the device has a nice discreet active preamp built into it already and most components, even top shelf, have poorly implemented preamp stages.

Re: JKSPDIF MK 111 on Six Moons
Sounds silly, but do try the MK3 with the JKDAC. Cheers! Is this a suggestion or a question? What you say is impossible! Every USB based Dac I have seen can use the MK3/AP2/etc. with it due to it's USB conversion not being so good or for whatever reason that it makes it sound better. What makes you...

Re: Cable sound again
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=941184 I'd like to see the test done with active speakers. Swap out different wire on an actively driven speaker that uses a Raal ribbon and Tad Midrange. I don't know if there would be any differences, but this would be the "only" time I'd c...

Re: New JKDAC32 USB DAC
Purchased and picked up my JKDAC32 from John last Saturday and I've been playing it since so I've a good idea of how it sounds now . From an operational point of view it's straightforward and I'm using it with the Young driver downloaded from the m2tech.biz site. I'd been using this before with the...
