Re: Who knows what about thermal wrapping on houses?
Derek... Insulating the inside of a house is more prone to cold bridging than a wrap, due in part to the fact that inner walls connect to outer walls and the dept/thickness of that wall acts as a thermal conduit. You have just solved an issue for me. A couple of years back we had an issue with the p...

Re: Who knows what about thermal wrapping on houses?
Cold bridging is a break in insulation continuity. I know that’s a very simplistic answer, there’s a lot on the internet explaining the pros and cons of different types of insulation, covering ways to lessen or avoid cold bridging. Insulating the inside of a house is more prone to cold bridging tha...

Re: Pairing modern speakers with vintage amp??
Hi, I got vintage amp Kenwood A-3X with S-3X speaker set (Barn find you could say) I gave it to my son to get him into hi-fi, will pairing this amp with modern speakers improve the sound, or it is just waste of money, I thought about Diamonds 220 they are only 208€ on richer sounds, any thoughts on...

Re: Garth Hudson RIP
So sad to hear of Garth Hudson's death, he was such a big part of The Band's music, one of my favourite bands of all time.

Re: What's the most overrated/disappointing gear you bought?
My one whinge about the airtights is the two volume knobs. They have excellent build quality etc, but that would drive me mad. In terms of disappointments - not too many in fairness. I remember having an entry level turntable from Project and feeling it was nothing special, and a Rega P3 as well. J...

Re: Selling sealed or secondhand LPs to record shops in Dublin
We could try to create a private equal exchange market here (no money involved, simple 1:1 exchange of used records). I would probably avoid the hassle of posting them (and this would limit the possibilities) but I am open to discussion. Best The reason I would want to trade-in LPs is to make more ...

Re: Selling sealed or secondhand LPs to record shops in Dublin
I used to trade-in all the time at Freebird Records mostly.
I saw a secondhand double LP of Tom Petty & The Heartrbreakers Highway Companion, asking price €55.99. Now I would absolutely die if I traded that LP in and got €10-12 for it. Hence my question.

Re: Selling sealed or secondhand LPs to record shops in Dublin
When I was buying a lot of vinyl, (late 70's - 90's) I reckon that I was paying about €6.50 - €7 an album. According to the CPI inflation index this equates to between €27-€29 today. Maybe it's an age thing, but €27 sounds a lot to me, even though it's an equivalent price. My main source of listeni...

Re: Selling sealed or secondhand LPs to record shops in Dublin
The reason I ask is, that secondhand vinyl is getting quite expensive as is new vinyl. From what I am hearing most of the shops will still only give the same rate as they've always done. Surely if the price has doubled, trebled in some cases then secondhand vinyl should also go up. At the local reco...
