The shiny Krell box you really want is the big FBI Integrated, Simon. It’s rather more affordable these days than D’Agostino’s latest integrated, the Momentum Integrated.

Re: You Tube Videos
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to pick of a physical copy of the magazine. Apparently, there are also articles on Tim Buckley and Amon Duul as well. I’m eagerly awaiting the release of that film, Dermot. I believe they managed to interview Mr. Geffen as well, but, to be honest, I wouldn’t expect...

Re: You Tube Videos
Finally, we have some visual documentation of the great David Ackles from the vaults of Norwegian TV. This was posted to YouTube about a year ago. Sadly, it is a mimed performance with a short interview, but it is so very precious. A reminder of a great and uniquely beautiful talent whose career was...

Re: Why do musicians ignore high-end audio?
For those of us outside the music business, we choose to spend a good deal of our free time listening to music and we choose to spend a good deal of our disposable income on a hifi system because we derive a great deal of pleasure from it. Working musicians have different priorities. A great deal of...

Re: My new hifi journey
Warmest congratulations on the the Quad CD player, Dave. I have very happy memories of a Quad CDP-2 CD player connected direct to the Quad 909 power amplifier via its internal preamp. (The Quad Artera Stereo power amp is the modern day equivalent of the 909 and would make an ideal pairing with the P...

Re: System upgrade - Aavik U-380 + Esoteric P03 Transport + Ansuz Cabling
It has been almost 5 months since I took delivery of the Aavik U-380 and, since then, the amp has opened up beautifully and blossomed quite profoundly. The quality of sound in my room is really quite startling right now and, without a shadow of a doubt, is the most soulful, most gripping, most magic...

Either the Sony DMP-71 or the Astell & Kern SP2000 (with a nice set of headphones) look very attractive to me. Sony DMP-71: Thread at Head-fi.org: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/official-sony-dmp-z1-thread.886122/ Stereophile review: https://www.stereophile.com/content/sony-dmp-z1-digital-music...

Re: John McLaughlin
Yes, I completely agree about Rick Laird. There is a composure about his playing which is totally assured. Such a wonderful tone he produced on the bass. You could sense that there was a genuine musical understanding between himself, Cobham and McLaughlin. I wonder whether he was the mediator in the...

Re: Rock - what are you listening to?
Wow! I’d be a fool to miss that. It really is a very generous gesture on the part of the label to include so much material for such a reasonable price. I’m particularly looking forward to hearing the live material. And yes, the Faust box I referred to in my earlier post is indeed the Wümme Years box...

John McLaughlin
This is a really beautiful interview with John McLaughlin about the impact of COVID-19 on musicians and the wider world in general. Such a wise and generous interview from one of the guitar-playing greats who wears his 78 years lightly. At one point in the interview, the interviewer mentions New Yor...
