Re: Very Low Frequency sounds affect our hearing & perceptio
Yes, that would be an interesting test - one would need to ensure that the original & playback system had low enough LF noise that it wasn't masking the injected LF noise. This, I believe would be the difficulty - measuring LF noise in a system (I believe it only shows with dynamic signals). If...

Re: Very Low Frequency sounds affect our hearing & perceptio
I suspect that this is where we should be looking for the explanations of the age old issue of why we perceive improvements but yet can't measure them. I'm pretty sure that reduction in VLF noise (Very Low Frequency) leads to major perceptual improvements in what we hear - things that I've experien...

Don't want to be responsible for implanting any bad ideas Terry. ;) Too late €100 return with Aer Lingus, Brick in hand luggage and nice stuffa bag for return flight. Darn it! Ah well I suppose it would be one of the more worthy smash n' grabs though it might be tough getting that brick through cus...

Re: Meet the Vintage Lego Audio Player
V interesting place is Cph... more bikes than folks as it happens and a very low incidence of theft. Would share your concern for the welfare of those tubes though... not being exercised by an audiophile or some such! I expect that those 300Bs may be pricey Western Electrics or some such - wouldn't...

Re: VCR tape to DVD
You most probably know this already but if the DVD writer/hard drive unit is one thats designed for use with televisions, then it should have a large scart socket on the rear that you can plug into your VCR.

Re: Rory Gallagher Boxset
Looks like a worthwhile buy for those with the original. I think the recordings were taken from two track tape intended for the documentary so the sound was not outstanding - wonder if the box set is any better.

Re: UK Ireland transport
Don't know anyone but if you know someone who has a business account with a shipping company, a lot could be saved on transit costs.

Re: Valve Amp Repair
It causes booting issues when powered up and connected so some junk getting back through the ground I guess. The other mono block does not have this issue so hopefully Peter can find the source of the noise and replace whatever component is at fault. If it is one of the transformers going south the...
