Just ordered another MSI Mobo from Paul Pang with clock fitted so one part of the rebuild started.

Once I get confirmation on the replacement board I will then have some fun trying a repair and who knows maybe some mods for someone capable to see if any improvements can be made!

Some valuable lessons learned along the way...
seems a little extreme
if its only the reg it likely would cost less than a postcard to canada, but i dunno where yould get a xmos chip if its gone

(3.3v shunt or battery instead of the reg might be worth trying if you find yourself with an experimental board)

did you fry the b85 board too?
or are you just getting a spare?

you should ask paul if theres any thing to be achieved in replacing the 32.768 khz clock
ill be testing this soon
seems to be more about the power to the clock more so than the clock itself, these two leg clocks dont allow for external power so we must change to 3-4 leg ones with +5/or 3,3v inputs
im expecting a little improvement with the 32.768 khz clock mod (maybe not now ive said that)
